We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco city at 1:00 pm. Then, we will visit the Cathedral of Cusco.
The Cathedral of Cusco is a magnificent Catholic church located in the historic city of Cusco, Peru. This catholic temple was built in the 16th century by the Spanish colonists who had conquered the Inca Empire. The Cathedral is a stunning example of architecture from the Spanish colonial period as it combines both European and Inca styles of construction.
Its walls are made of large stone blocks and its facade is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures. Inside, the Cathedral is filled with beautiful frescoes, sculptures, and other works of art. It is also home to the world-famous painting of the Last Supper by Diego de la Puente.
Then, we will explore the Convent of Santo Domingo and the Qorikancha. The Qorikancha is an ancient Incan temple located in the city of Cusco, Peru. It is believed to have been built around the 12th century and was once the most important temple in the Incan Empire.
The Qorikancha was dedicated to the sun god, Inti, and was filled with gold and precious stones. It was also a major pilgrimage site for the Incas. Today, the ruins of the temple still stand, and visitors can explore the remaining walls and structures. The temple is also home to the Santo Domingo church, which was built on top of the ruins of the Qorikancha in the 16th century.
Afterwards, we will visit Sacsayhuaman. Sacsayhuaman is an ancient Incan fortress near the city of Cusco. Built in the 15th century, it is one of the most impressive and well-preserved Inca sites in the world. The fortress is made up of three large terraces, where the outer terrace is the largest and most impressive. Each terrace is made up of huge stone blocks, some of which are estimated to weigh over 300 tons.
The stones have been precisely cut and fit together without the use of mortar, a testament to the advanced masonry skills of the Incas. In addition to its impressive architecture, Sacsayhuaman is also known for its strategic location. Built on a hill overlooking Cusco, it served as a defensive stronghold against invaders. Today, Sacsayhuaman is a popular tourist destination and a must-visit site for anyone interested in learning more about the Incan culture.
Then, we will visit Qenqo. Qenqo is an enigmatic Inca temple located in Cusco, Peru. This mysterious temple, believed to have been built in the 15th century, is renowned for its unique and intricate architecture. Its most striking feature is a large stone located at the temple’s entrance, which is believed to represent an important Inca god.
The temple also features a number of other carved stones, as well as a series of mysterious underground chambers and tunnels. The temple is also home to an ancient altar, which is believed to have been used for religious ceremonies. Qenqo is a fascinating and mysterious site that draws many visitors each year.
After visiting Qenqo, we will go to Tambomachay. Tambomachay is an Inca archaeological site located in the Cusco region of Peru. It is believed to have been a site of worship, and consists of a series of aqueducts and baths, terraces, and a ceremonial platform.
The aqueducts are believed to have provided water to the nearby Inca city of Cusco. The terraces and baths are thought to have been used for ritual cleansing, and the ceremonial platform is thought to have been used for ritual performances.
Before returning to Cusco, we will visit the Inca outpost of Puca Pucara, which is known for its red-rock terraces.
Finally, we will return to Cusco city, where we will be arriving around 10:00 pm.
